I am stupid, let's just get that one out of the way first.

My provider is O2, aka BT Cellnet. I've followed the instructions that were given in response to this post (i.e. I've activated the service) and yet I'm not recieving any text messages. I know the service must work because if I send an email to +44(my number) then I'll recieve it on my phone. What am I missing?

Also, just to clarify this, when I put in my mobile number on the 'edit user info' page I am supposed to start with 07... rather than +447... (since I'm in the UK), right? Note: I've tried both and the service works with neither of them. Thanks very much.
